Intel said on Tuesday it had submitted plans to nearly double the scope of its manufacturing operations in Israel, with the government saying the U.S. chipmaker would invest about 18 billion shekels ($5 billion) over the next two years.
The decision by the U.S. semiconductor manufacturer was expected, and the Israeli occupation government welcomed the move as an important achievement for the Israeli occupation economy, raising hopes that Israel would be a pioneer candidate for more investment to be undertaken by Intel in 2023.
This decision was condemned and attacked by activists of the boycott movement on social media, considering that this company has become a partner with the Israeli government in its crimes against the civilians in Gaza, as a company that supports the economy of the occupation government.
Intel has had a presence in “Israel” going back to 1974, and, unlike most multinational tech companies, combined extensive research and development in “Israel” with a big manufacturing operation, something the Israeli occupation government has been trying to encourage.
